car wont go I to gear

car wont go I to gear
I just did a clutch job on my h22 civic. I alligned the new clutch and torqued everything to spec. When the car is off it goes through all the gears no problem but when the car is on it wont go into any gear. If I put the car in first gear then start it sounds like a bad grinding sound sort of like spun bearing so im gussimg the clutch is partially engaging. My question is if I replace a stock clutch with a 6 puck do I have to adjust clutch pedal? Also I read on another thread of people having to put spacers on there slave cylinder if anyonw had this problem how did u solve it. Thanks in advance

With the vehicle off, can you look through the inspection plate (if you have one) and determine how far the throw out bearing is from the fingers on the pressure plate. Post back. It should be about 1/32" from touching the fingers. The throw out bearing should not be touching the fingers while not engaged, and should barely clear them...

I adjusted the pedal and still nothing. But if I start the car in first n let go of the ebrake the car moves forqard while im still holding the clutch pedal down

Also if it's a hydro tranny there is no adjustment, it self calibrates.
Messing with the peddle itself is only going to make matters worse as far as I know.

Re: car wont go I to gear
I had a similar issue, but mine happened because my slave cylinder went out. My car wouldn't go into gear unless the car was off. I turned on my car with first gear engaged and my car moved forward a little bit and stalled. Are the slave cylinder and clutch master cylinder good? How's the clutch feel? I ended up fixing my issue by changing the slave cylinder and adjusting the clutch pedal

Re: car wont go I to gear
I replaced my slave n master less than a year ago so im assuming they are good and the clutch feels normal. It feels like it did before I changed the clutch and I adjusted the pedal but nothing I turned the fork to the outer most position and still does the same thing

To me that indicates that your clutch linkage needs to be adjusted and that it is not fully disengaging - T/O bearing/linkage needs to be adjusted for more travel...

Re: car wont go I to gear
Soi checked my fork and it is engaging the pressure plate I jacked the front of the car up and started it in first gear this time I was able to go through all the gears but I didnt have the clutch pushed in. It was shifting through gears without having to puah the clutch pedal
