Don't know why but my 99 civic w/gsr seems to run worse when less than a 1/4 tank of gas. Not tremendously worse, but seems to be more sluggish and doesn't pull as hard in vtec. Maybe there is no real problem and its just in my head, but could it be a problem with the fuel pump filter (someone told me this might cause something like this)? Anyone heard of anything like this, if so tell me what it actually is and how i can possibly go about fixing it.

I had a 97 civic that ran really bad when low on fuel. I found out there was a crack in the fuel pump and when the fuel dropped below the crack it sucked up air. It took me 2 months till I took it to a dealer because I couldn't figure it out.

I have the same problem with my car. I thought it was all in my head as well but reading your concrens makes me wonder if something needs to be fixed.

Try dropping your tank and giving it a throurough clean out. Maybe there's a lot of sediment at the bottom. My old EF used to do the same thing. You'll be surprised at the crap you find in there...

Where are you located? Im in florida and rust isnt as bad as yall northern states but we recently removed a tank from a car and it was FILLED with rust! More rust then gas was in it at the bottum...It was a 94 though and had been in florida since at least 99.

Im not sure if this could do it or not. Good luck with a find

It's not necessarily where you live, but I'd bank more on the kind of gas you put into your car, or what the previous owner put in it. Cheap gas has a tendancy to have quite a bit of water content which is usually the cause of finding stuff like rust in your tank.
