Default Car running very hot, AC running hot and cold......?

I have recently noticed that a few times a week. My car runs very hot, never hitting the H but getting pretty close. While this happens, my AC goes from ice cold to super hot. Then all of a sudden the temp will go back to normal and the AC will be cold again. Does anyone know what the problem may be that is causing my car to run hot and the AC to be hot?

BTW I recently replaced my radiator fan with a slim fan and it works perfectly. I also noticed that after driving there is sometimes alot of coolant in the overflow container, is that normal?

It may be your thermostat?

Are your fans coming on as needed with engine temps?

I would look into the quality of fluid in your cooling system. Also if you take out your thermostat you can test it. Take some water and sit the thermostat in a pot and start to boil the water...you can see if the spring opens the thermostat and if it doesn't then your thermostat is teh bad.

If you are close to the Hot on your temp guage, it might be a thermostat, coolant quality, or water pump problem. I cammot see how this should affect your A/C unless your vent system is radiating the heat into your vehicle somehow. I would see a professional mechanic ASAP Before you blow a head gasket or something from all of the overheating.

yea that's why I thought it was weird that the AC was hot. Also, I heard the coolant bubbling the other day, is that normal?

Now the car is starting to squeel/scream super loud everytime i turn the ac on, this only happens when it's on. I sprayed some belt conditioner on there, and it fixes it for like a day, what is wrong?

Does it sound like a belt squeel or a compressor seizing squeel?

If your belts are good and everything with the cooling system is good then my guess would possibly be your compressor might be taking a crap.

i don't know if it's the compressor, because when it squeels, I spray the belts down and it goes away. I also just got a new AC unit about 3 months ago.

remove the a/c and get a dual core aluminium radiator.

If spray helps then it is the belt, this wouldn't quiet the compressor.

My thoughts exactly.

How are your radiator fluid levels? Does your car overheat or does the a/c just doesn't blow cold air?

You may be in need of a recharge; read into your helms for information on how to check this. edit: it could be a bad belt that is causing your compressor to not function properly. I would replace belt first then go from there.

I have a 2000 Civic Si and it was doing the exact same thing as yours. It was my water pump and AC compressor. If the AC compressor is seizing then that would cause the belt to slip making that squealing noise. It stops when you put belt conditioner on it because the belt isnt slipping any more, but your compressor is putting so much resistance on your engine that you should see a change in gas mileage. My car would be fine for days, then all the sudden it would go to almost H on temp indicator, then it would drop and be fine for another week or so, it was really weird. Mine had a low metalic grinding noise too and that was my water pump. Replaced em both and everything is back to normal.
Oh yea, and you should never hear the radiator fluid boiling. When the engine is cold start the car and turn the heat to full hot. Then remove radiator cap(before it gets hot) and top off the coolant. Make sure your coolant overflow resevoir is at the right level too. Hopefully this will help ya, good luck.
