Well just an update on my situation, homeowners won't cover the damage (I figured they wouldn't but it was worth a shot). I'm having my auto insurance look at it tomorrow. Well we'll see what they say and hope for the best. Do you guys think that I'll get hit w/ a surcharge for this? Anyone have anything similar to this happen?
As for the guy who asked about what type of carport it was and where I got it. I can't remember the specific brand, but I bought it at BJ's wholesale club.

Well if the manufactor claimed that it will withstand any weather condtion or at least they said winter condition, then try to work out something with them!!
