Default car not starting. fuel pump?

Ok i was driving and i looked at my dash and my speedometer wasnt work neither was the rpm gauge and i noticed that my gas pedal wasnt working than i car turned off. I managed to coast into a parking lot and tried starting it up. It starts for a second than dies. So i checked the fuses. All of them are good. I told my gf to put it on acc while i listen for the fuel pump. Nothing. I have been reading on here something about the main relay clicking. I dont hear that. So should i try fixing that first or is the fuel pump the culprit?

correct me if im wrong, but if it was the fuel pump, you would hear a humming noise in the rear?

and i dont think the car would just turn off, it would have a hard time starting

maybe a wire going to the fuel pump got snagged and cut? its a logshot but check your wiring just to make sure. i believe its a yellow/green wire thats the positive lead...not sure though its been so long since ive messed with this.

My 94 Del Sol is somewhat coming out of the same kind of problem. My fuel pump would randomly shut off causing my car to die. After months of dicking around I finally found out I had a short in the ground on the inside of the ECU. I ordered another and I'm still waiting for it...so my car is still in the shop. Electrical stuff is tough to deal with.

it will only stay running if i hold the key cranked all the way. once it goes to the II position where its supposed to go after the start has done its job it dies.
