Didi you check to make sure your timing belt wasnt broken? After you check that i would check your all of your fuses, under the hood and in the bay. I had a similar problem and it turned out being a fuse. Does the car sound like a normal crank when you turn the key or does it sound different? Does your fuel pump prime and you main relay click off?

If you aren't getting spark, then it is an electrical problem. Your ignition coil may have gone bad, or you may have some loose wires or a bad ground somewhere.

If you swapped ignition coils when you swapped distributors (coil is inside the distro), then it probably isn't the coil. Is the ECU throwing any CEL codes?

Main fuel relay is a common problem, and would explain why you made it about a mile away before the car stalled. Luckily they are not too expensive, and you can actually fix them yourself if you are good with a soldering gun.
