Default car is dead

ok so heres the thing... 4-5 months ago, when i drove my car every stop that i would make the car would lose rpms and the lights would dim and and stuff like that so i went out and got a new battery(needed one anyways) and the problem went away. now for all this time i've had this new battery i haven't had the problem since. but i messed up my exhaust and haven't driven the car for a few weeks, so the cars been sitting in my garage. tonight i go out there to start it up and check stuff just to make sure evrything all good and the car is completely dead. no click when i try to turn it over, nothing. please tell me i dont need an alternator?

thats a dead battery for sure. have you tried checking all your connections and wires? its kind of weird for an alternator to go out on a civic, how old is it? how many miles?

Well, maybe your old battery had a dead cell. I just had to change mine too. Works fine now! Starts up without jumper cables. ohh...gotta love those at times.

Maybe you have something consistantly drawing power. Even when the car is 'off'. I know when i ghetto rigged my radio...i hooked up the yellow wire (power for cd memory, time, station, right?) to the red ...i dont remember the reason, something about it wouldnt work unless I did that. ANYWAY, I did it...it constantly drained my battery down. So i just got another unit. Might need to get a ohm meter. lol lots of bs. good luck Ive had the same OEM alternator for 189K miles now...still works great!! Different motor ofcourse, but same olf alt.
