Car bogged while accelerating on freeway, and then it died
I was driving on the freeway tried to accelerate (in 5th) and it was bogging so I tried 4th still bogged (about 3k). I was able to maintain a speed of 70 or so. I put the car in neutral and I was still unable to rev past 3500. When I got off the freeway the car died I was able to start it while I still had a bit of momentum and then it died again. I pushed the car to side of the road and was still unable to start the car. It was dark and I was only able to check the battery voltage (12v) and saw that I had fuel pressure. Please give me any suggestions before I have it towed to the mechanic . Car is a 98HB with JRSC and MSD.

Probably something with the distributor, a bad coil maybe. I had a similar problem last year and thats what was the problem.

Ya I'd say it's ignition related....could be your MSD box as I've seen them crap out after they are a few years old. How old is yours?

If you read his original post you'll see that he said he had good fuel pressure...

Re: (00Red_SiR)
Problem solved... The MSD Blaster SS Coil died. I replaced the coil and the car started right up. I like that in the troubleshooting (of the MSD) that one of the first steps is to replace the coil with a good one. This is not always easily done when your broken car is your only mode of transportation and you cannot just buy the coil anywhere.
I have had the system for about 2 1/2 years. I guess this is the life expectancy of a coil. Thanks to all those who helped.
