Can't remove spark plug wires, stuck on head.
I'm having issues removing the spark plug wires from a 2000 d16y8 head with 123k miles on it. The plastic part of the wires wont come off, however I can turn them some but they will not come off. Obviously the spark plugs are still in there as I can't get them out.
What is the best method of removing these? I've poured wd40 all over the inside/outside of the spark plug wire and let it set overnight but it just won't come out.

Spark plug boot pliers, or needle nose pliers. It looks like the head is off the engine in that pic...if it is, you could always just grab the bottom of the spark plugs with some pliers, unscrew them, then push it all out together.

Wow didn't know that existed. Thanks! I tried to back the plugs off that way but didn't want to damage the valves or nick the head. I'll order that thing and see what it can do.

Those are good, especially if you want to save the boots, but sometimes you need a lil better grip.
I'd try a needle nose pliers or vice grips. get down the side as far as you can, dont force too hard, or bend the tubes, then grab ahold and yank! if it breaks, do it again till it comes loose, as they are already toast anyway.

It's a rubber boot if the boot pliers don't work for you or fit down the tubes properly your other option is a small metal hook.
You can get it deep enough to hook into the bottom of the boot and yank up.
Something like this:

Yep, a metal hook would also be an option. If you're going to go that far, though I still think your better option would be to use a pair of needle nose pliers to turn the spark plug out from the bottom, then shove it out.

Also, I read your engine build thread a couple of times before I started buying parts for my rebuild. Thanks for the reply!

This happened to me the other day i just pulled them out with needle nose pilers.
Also I had some real crappy wires one time from a crappy auto part store, wont say the name lol but im sure everyone knows where im talking about. They had a rubber piece on the bottom of the wires that was removable and all of those parts got stuck in the spark plug hole i had to dig them out that was not fun lol. When its time for a tune up again im getting Densos or Sumitumos.
