Can't find the right wheel bearing. 99 Civic
I have a 1999 Honda Civic EX 1.6l with drum brakes on the rear. I'm trying to find a wheel bearing for the rear of the car but both mazza and autozone keep comming up with the wrong wheel bearing. The problem is that the new wheel bearing is larger than the axel so when I put it on its just really loose. At mazza they used a caliper to measure the inside of the bearing and mine was around 1.010 while the new one was around 1.070. I know that doesn't seem like a lot but when you had the old bearing on the axle its tight with no wiggle but the new ones are all loose and I doubt when I put the crown nut on the end of the axle that it will center the wheel bearing when I go to tighten it. Another thing I noticed is that my wheel bearing has 4 holes in the face of the wheel mounting plate where the studs are and all the news ones I got had only 2. I know thats probably nothing but its just something I think worth noting. I've tried googleing it but either I'm wording it wrong or its not a common problem. Anyone have any idea how I keep getting the wrong wheel bearings?

It needs to fit closely, so clearly you have the wrong part. Try a DX bearing on it. Someone may have switched parts on your car. Also just for fun you could have the parts store take out a set of EX brake shoes and see if they fit your drum.

Just picked up a timken wheel bearing and it fit perfectly. Idk if its a brand thing or what but the timken fit like a glove. I guess forth time is the charm.
