Can't advance ignition timing?

Default Can't advance ignition timing?

Sup guys I have searched but it seems noone have this problem except me, I have my distributed all the way advance but when I check it with the timing gun the little line on the crank pulley is still at the retard line, then I try moving the distributer the engine stalls out? Any idea would be great and if anybody had this problem, oh yea my car is a 97 cx hatchback everything is bone stock

have you put it in base timing? followed the procedure in the service manual to do so?

Did you jump the service connector under the dash before you tried to set the ignition timing?

x2. Get a paper clip and jump the service connector else the ecu will auto correct the timing.

I did jump the service connector but still nothing, I do not know if the mechanical timing is correct though, but I do hope so, car drives fine just really sluggish when a/c is on lol

Sounds like the timing is off by one tooth on the timing belt.

This is normal, the Y7 is a gutless wonder.
