Default Cannot do a self CEL diag... light just WILL NOT blink.

I followed the guide and jumped the 2 pin harness next to the ecu and turned the key to the on (II) position and the CEL just stays lit. Am I doing something wrong or what???

Im going on a limb here, im going to say that it probably means you have no cels. Meaning no problems that the ECU knows of. Hopefully someone with some experience and veryfied that.

What did you use to jump it? Are you sure whatever you used made contact with the...contacts?

I do have a CEL when driving and I used 18 gauge wire and I'm pretty sure I made contact... Is there anything I can use to clean the inside of the plug just to be positive?

does the cel go away after you turn the car off?
If you can see the contacts, its clean enough...its not really something that gets dirty

Somtimes... it always comes on after a few minutes of driving, I think it is the VSS since the speedo is not working. Sometimes it will be on as soon as I turn the car on and other times it will come on after a few minutes of idle/driving.

i still say go out and be sure that youre hitting the contacts...you can see if you look

IF it still doenst flash, then no codes are being stored ==> you need to jump it before you turn the car off, the next time it comes on.

(worst case, your ecu is bad, but we're not going there yet)

I use a paperclip and still at times I need to retry because I didn't make the proper contact's.

Ohh I just noticed your steps.
Just wait until you get a CEL, with the car off Jump the connector, Turn key until dash lights come on. Pay attention and count the long and short flashes on the CEL. Let it repeat a couple times you could have more then one code stored.

It would be cool if someone had a DIY jumper with the correct plug ends that would work the first time :D

You'll get it figured out....

It will jump with the car running...you dont have to shut it off
Just get the cel and jump it

I used to have to check the codes so much on my Prelude that I cut off the connector and replaced it with a toggle switch. Extended the wires a bit and made it real easy to get to the switch.
