Default Can you still trade in a car to a dealer if it has a different tranny in it?

My Car has a different tranny in it (99 Civic SI) in it. My tranny broke its differential and it had a huge hole in it. So I bought one from a member on here. Do you guys the dealer will still take it . Even though it has a different vin on there. It has papers and its legit.

I'd guess it varies from place to place, but I'm sure they will hit you on the value of the car unless you have an R tranny in it. I'd almost be willing to bet if you didnt mention it they wouldn't notice though.

Well, I'm sure they don't care if it has an R or any other tranny in it. More than likely the people looking at it don't know the f***ing difference anyway. All they care about is that the car works. You can trade it in with a B18C, but they're probably not going to give you more or less than you'd normally get.

Especially with a tranny, I highly doubt they will even check the numbers.

You really should sell your car, trade ins are an open invitation to getting bent over by the dealer.

No, it really won't matter. They won't look at the maintenance records or check VINs.

However they're going to gouge you on the value regardless; I would suggest selling it privately as others here have.
