can u use a d16y8 short block on a 90 crx with the stock crx si 16v head?
like the title i was woundering can i put a d16y8 short block bottom end in my 90 crx si and use my origional 1990 crx si 16v head?
what's needed to be done? i am still going to reuse all my old wiring and stuff do what timing belt do i need? any info would be helpful thanks

yes u can bolt your old head to the y8 bottom. the us spec crx's never came with a dohc.

so basically every thing is bolt on right and which timing belt do i need a y8 or the stock timing belt? is all the mount and every thing going to fit? thanks

i don't see why he'd have to go with the obd2 conversion. since he will be reusing his head and is only using the bottom end he doesn't need to hook up the knock sensor.

yea but the y8 is a vtec motor and u are swapping a non vtec head onto it.. is there anything that needs to be done about that also the block out of ur crx si is actually stronger than the y8 block..

there is no problem at all with putting a non-vtec head onto that y8 bottom end. Also, the d16a6 block is not stronger than the y8 block. They are one in the same, and actually, the y8 block is most likely better off due to less years vs. the a6.

ive always been told that the a6 is the strongest d series block?? guess i gotta go find numbers to back it up huh damn it im too lazy for this
