can someone show me a pic of where my temperature should be? 92 civic.
I have a 92 DX, the gauge cluster without the RPMS, where the temperature is on the left hand side. I have had overheating problems in the past, changed pretty much everything in the cooling system, including the head gasket just 2 weeks ago. Car is running fine it seems.
I know the needle is suppost to be underneath the symbol, facing at a downward angle, and the car has not overheated since the head gasket/waterhose replacement..but I feel as if it is just a TAD bit higher than it should be, like Millimeters. Is it suppost to be COMPLETELY below the little squiggly lines? Mine is touching them, and going just a bit higher. I bled the system and let the fan kick on like 5 times the other day.
I just want to see what is normal that is all. Sorry for the confusing thread. Show me a pic! Thanks.

Mine sits right over the the 2 squiggly lines and it sounds like your is lower than that so I'd say you're good. Sorry no pic

See both of those pictures are from the LX models, because the dash is different. Doesnt really give me much information.
However I do own a 92LX as well, and that is not that car I am talking about in this thread, but my Temp gauge on that car is slightly higher than both of your pictures above.

As long as it doesn't get any hotter than that, I don't really see it being a problem. Possibly your thermostat??

are you seriously worried about a few millimeters off on the gauge for one i really doubt that would affect a thing. On a 15+ year old car i would be more worried about the gauge even working correctly it is quite possible your gauge isn't reading right if you are that worried about this buy an aftermarket temp gauge so you can see exactly what temp your engine is running at instead of basing it on the needle on a old stock gauge.

My B20z CRV has always run a little hotter, right around the top of the squigglies... Scanguauge shows 185-ish.
Sorry, no pics, but I swear it's right on top of the squigglies.
By the way, that gauge is, at best, a VERY rough estimate. It takes a good 15 degree difference in actual water temperature to move that needle at all. I run a computer with an electronic water temperature guage that shows in normal driving my car varies about 10 degrees up and down based on whether I'm idling, whether the fan's running, outside temp, and other stuff. The gauge on my cluster never moves though.
