Can someone give me there opinion on these pistons please? ?
Hey guys, I'v just got my pistons and rods back after getting the rod's resized due to my b16b spinning a bearing from using arp rod bolts (I know i never knew about resizing).
Anyway, when i first took the pistons out i noticed they looked very worn considering they had only seen 100 miles max. I told the guy at the machine shop that they were basically brand new pistons and he said they where fine and they were suppose to wear like that and i have nothing to worry about. I also asked him if i should change the rings and he said i'm waisting my money as they have done such low mileage.
What do you guys think of them ? ?
I have also included some pictures of the cylinder walls. As you can see there are scratches going up and down the cylinders from bits off bearings.
I have managed to get a flex hone and tidy up the cylinders now and they look quite good. So i'm not concerened about them now but just thought i'd show them anyway.
Thanks in advance
Richard

The pistons IMO do no look too bad. The black (teflon coating?) on them is worn off but you can almost scratch that stuff off with your fingernails. I would get a new set of rings just for piece of mind since you have already came this far. Good luck!
*I just reread your post, for some reason I thought you said the pistons had 100 thousand miles on them.. what an Idiot. 100 miles on those rings is nothing, but the price of new rings cant be too bad!
