My friend's 92 Honda Civic has a B18C in it and some bearing in his tranny is making some awful noises and he wanted to pull the motor but he wasn't sure if he could just pull the motor or if he could simply drop the tranny out of the car.

Judging by what I see I am 99% sure that he can just drop the tranny and not have to pull everything.

Anyone have a EG series civic with B motor that needed just the tranny pulled?

Same as the D. Remove all appropriate and,,,, drop it.

Yes it can be done, me and some friends did it in a driveway, the car was an EK but the concept is the same. Jack up the front of the car, remove the axles (like you would to remove the whole motor), remove the intermediate shaft, support the motor before you remove the passenger side motor mount, loosen the bolts that connect the tranny to the motor, wiggle it off but be careful as its heavy (you might want a second jack for this part to keep the tranny from dropping to the ground). Oh ya I forgot you have to either disconnect the shift linkage from the tranny or undo the two bolts that hold the shifter assembly to the car (underneath)

its not that I can't do it, its b/c I want to save myself some time instead of pulling the entire engine/tranny.

I've done too many engine pulls this year that I'm at a point of not wanting to do it anymore. Plus my engine hoist bit the dust last month so that is also sort of a reason that I do not want to pull everything. As long as I can drop the tranny out from the bottom like a typical EG with a D motor then no biggie. I figured judging by the space in the engine bay that it should not be an issue but its always safer to ask than to start the project only to find out that I'm screwed because I forgot something.

Its real easy to do. Just drop it with your small jack. It should just slide right out.
