Default Cam Identification? (Yes I have searched)

Hey guys,

I was wondering if you could help me out. I recently bought a B16a long block for a very good price off a friend. Now I'm more than happy with it, since I'm planing on doing a build up, which should be fun.

Now he says that supposedly it has ITR cams (Older ones, not the 00-01's). Now either way I won't be upset, b/c I got the motor for next to nothing. But it is very hard to tell the difference between 2nd Gen B16a cams and the older ITR cams.

So I was wondering if you guys could give me some input. (I'm thinking stock cams, but who knows I could be wrong.)

For reference:

Thanks for looking.

looks like a ITR to me.. Look at the slot for the intake the top is angled and looked like to me the b16 didn't have as much of a angle as yours do. THen again im tired as hell.

I put another pic up.

Man why couldn't Honda have just labeled their cams. Would make things so much easier.

The older ITR cams are so similar though. Just wanted to make sure.

in this pic http://www.ff-squad.com/tech/cams/rcams.jpg you will notice that the wide section (protruding ring) up top as 2 thin rings spaced apart...where as the b16a cams are smooth on the same wide section (protruding ring)

you have B16a cams

EDIT - i am NOT talking about the one or two engraved rings but I am talking about the wide section just below where the engraved rings are

well one thing for sure your cam.. doesnt have the indent on the protruding part of the cam...all R cams have the indent on them.. theres basicly it has to have both.. indent on the protruding and a ring around the distributor slot part of the cam

Yes I realize that but I'm not talking about the 2000-2001 ITR's I'm talking about 1995-2000(JDM) and 1997-1999(US) ones.

But yeah I still think they are B16a cams.

****NM I see what your saying****
