Caliper question
One my female friends just had her brakes done on her 2006 Honda Civic. The mechanic claimed that her calipers were not working. She had 70k miles on her car. They charged her $700 for the job. Thats including rotors, pads and "maintaining" her rear brakes. She doesnt believe that she got ripped off.
My question is how often does calipers really go bad? I never had any of my calipers go bad...

Re: Caliper question
I had to replace all of my calipers on my car because the previous owner had water in the system some how. I dont think your friend got ripped off she just payed the normal shop cost, she definity didnt get hooked up though lol

Re: Caliper question
There was a TSB detailing rapid front brake wear because the caliper sliding pins were reversed from the factory for some Civics in the 06+ range. Can't recall exact models or years, I just remember briefly reading about it. The fix was essentially reversing them...certainly not replacing the entire caliper.
So for $700, were both of her calipers actually replaced? Because $700 to change front rotors and pads (which aren't but $200 worth of parts from the dealer) and spray Brake-Klean around the rear drums, is an effin ripoff.
