A/C problem, please advice!!!
My a/c compressor went out and I have no a/c whatsoever, so I called a trustworthy shop and asked him to give me a quote to replace it, flush and clean the system completely, and fill it up with freon at the end, he said about $550 out the door (with parts and labor). Good or bad? Other option is I can get the compressor at autozone brand new for $300 (I already have freon bought) and give him about $130 for labor and thats it for that option, but he also mentioned something about a proportioning valve and added that "sometimes buying things separate could be more expensive." I want a NEW compressor either way cus the heat in Cali is pretty hot. Any advice guys? By the way its a 2000 sedan lx stick

you say this place is trust worthy yet you are still questioning the price?
if price is your only concern, get a few more quotes
