A/c not engaging when its hot?
A 95 ex with a GSR swap. I bought the car, everything on it was OEM, nothing had been replaced except for a CD player. Purchased the car and let it sit until that same weekend and did the swap. A/C worked fine with the d series on that short trip home , did the swap, never disconnected the lines and when the GSR when in so did the a/c. Drove the car around for a week and noticed that the A/C wasn't engaging. I figured "hum, it must need a recharge" so I did. After the recharge from Goodyear, It worked fine. And then, it happen again? I starting noticing when the weather was hot the a/c would not engage but when it was cooler through the day it would come on with out a problem? What could it be? I've looked around on line and even took it back to Goodyear and they couldn't figure it out because of course when they tested it, it came on? Thanks for your help

You might want to do a search. I have read that similar heat-related problems can sometimes be caused by a bad A/C button switch in the panel.

I have this same problem now on my 94 civic lx. I looked at the compressor the other day day and the clutch engages and then disengages (on/off) very often when hot. Im thinkin about changin the comp. clutch. Maybe have goodyear or someone take a look at the clutch. Ill keep in touch

One candidate is the soldered joints on the climate control circuit board expanding and failing at high temps. See http://honda.lioness.googlepages.com/airconditioning

I ended up finding an old JDM Climate control that I had purchased a while back. I will open it up and compare to see any differences between them. Hope it works

The soldering point that is faulty is on the "back" of the circuit board panel. The bulb soldering point is on the front. So, they are 2 different solder points allowing 1 to work while the other doesn't.

Ok! Ive got an updated question regarding a/c operation. Could a loose or worn out serpentine/drive belt cause the a/c or compressor not to operate properly???
Thanks
Thanks

What is a good way to see if the belt is too loose to be causing this? I mean should the belt be really noticeably loose or what?
Thanks for all the assistance!

i think the rule is one inch up and down for every foot of belt across the pulley.
but that sound really weird if you were to have 4 feet between the pulleys resulitng in 4 inches of deflection. lol
