Default Electrical Problem maybe?

Ok this is hard for me to explain but im goin to try. I have a 89 civic hatchback. Whenever i press the gas on the car, my temp guage will go pass hot, my Tach will stop workin, and my lights will turn off when i have them on, and my CD player will turn off and so will my radar detector! haha, i dont know what is wrong with it, it seems to only do it when i hit the gas. I disconnected CD player and radar detector but that didnt fix it any! What else could it be???

Did you just get a swap done? Or did this just all of asudden happen? That's alot of electrical mishaps going on..............What has changed since it wasn't doing those things?

nothing has changed! hehe, well i did a swap right when i got the car, d16a6, a rod started knocking in it so i put another d16a6 in it, like 3 weeks ago, but since its the same engine i hooked everything up the same way, so i dunno what it could be!

Re check all your wiring and especialy grounds. There really isn't much info provided to dig deeper. If it all of a sudden started, like one night you came home and it wasn't doing that stuff and then the next morning it was, then something has probably come unconnected or a short somewhere.......also the altenator can cause crazy things to happen..............just some advice, someone help this guy.

You have a bad ground somewhere. Check the starter. I know its sounds stupid but my car did the same thing and it was a bum starter making a bad ground. The gauges going nuts and all that is the bad ground losing contact. First check all your ground straps, ground on the starter, ground on the alternator etc. Then if you can't find that check the starter itself. It is a ground problem and your electrical system is losing contact with the battery, you are not overheating and your tach is fine. Your hitting the gas may be knocking the ground loose or more current ma be increasing resistance. Either way that's what's up, happy hunting!
