Built up grease and gunk on my alternator...
When I was changing my tranny fluid today, I noticed that the bottom of my alternator on my EM1 was covered in grease and gunk. Is this normal? It almost looked like caked on axle grease or something.
I wiped all of the gunk off, but could this damage my alternator?? And is this normal or not? Thanks in advance for your help!

It can if it gets into the stator and the armature. The grease is most likely from a bad CV boot and the grease flys when your going down the road.

That's the weird part...my CV boots looked just fine! I didn't see any tears, or any lube around anywhere around there. I did see a buildup of grease in the center of my suspension arm, however, but I couldn't figure out where it came from.
