Brand new B16 turns over but sounds like no compression

Default Brand new B16 turns over but sounds like no compression

Just got done putting this brand new built B16 back together and dropped the motor in. Everything's hooked up. Only CEL I get is the coolant temp sensor. No biggie.
Now when I go to start this thing it cranks and cranks, but sounds like there's no compression. It makes the same sound as if the spark plugs weren't even in there and it was cranking.
Any ideas?

Try a compression test then valve adjustment.

compression test should really need to be done, right? I mean the motor is a brand new rebuild from importbuilders.
Now, valve adjustment......SON OF A BITCH!!!!! Now that you mention it, I got the head rebuilt. More than liely the valves are so out of whack it's not even funny. I was so pissed off about the damn turbo, I forgot about the damn valves

I suggested a compression test to see where its at. If it was screwed it would have been valves. If your unsure about the valves get specs from importbuilder and set them to that. I would still CT it though.

Ooooooooooooooooooo! I think I know! Same thing was going on w/ my buddies 00 Si after we put in the new 1.9 LT fully built B16 in. We have somthing like 8.5.1 compression pistons and **** in it and we thought there was an electrical problem but after going over it again we found that the valves where actually too tight and wern't able to close all the way! "Do a valve Adjustment" We fired it right up and it ran soooo ****!

Just did a valve adjustment.
.015 on the intake and .018 on the exhaust. Still not getting any compression. Every now and then it'll almost hivkup now, but that's about it.
Any more suggestions.

i dont believe that is what the valves should be at its 7intake and 8 exhaust

The measurements I gave are in millimeters. And it's on the low end of the tolerance side. And yeah, it was a typo as well. It was supposed to read .15 and .18
Helms says the following...
.15-.19mm (.006-.007") intake
.17-.21mm (.007-.008") exhaust

Is your batt fully charged? Just a thought.

Now that you did the valve adjustment and know there on i suggest that compression test and see if that is the case. Also sure that your wires are on correct? Because if there off itll give you the same effect your getting and itll hick up like you mentioned.

out of time probably that how mine sound when I had the timing way off it like the starter is cranking the car way fast bc there is no compression on the cylinder

Well, I ended up leaving the damn car in storage again. Probably gonna be there 'till july or so when I come back to the mainland. In Hawaii for now enjoying life.
Thanks for the pointers guys. I'll be sure to keep 'em in mind for when I get back there.
