brake help please! - pedal hardness increases until dragging
not quite sure where to put this.
its brake related obviously but the brakes and motor are swapped and the motor is fi.
its possible its all related.
the car is an eg so i posted it here.
if the thread needs to be moved i apologize.
the car is a 93 civic hatchback
motor is 94 integra ls b18b1
boosted with td05h from 1st gen eclipse
my brakes are integra ls discs all around
integra ls brake booster/master cylinder/proportioning valve
THE PROBLEM
lately, especially in city -stop&go- traffic, my brake pedal becomes increasingly hard until the brakes drag.
its like the space between when the pedal is stationary and when the brakes actually come on decreases until it surpasses the pedals stationary position. this causes the brakes to drag while driving down the road without even pressing the pedal.
sorry for my english, that was terrible but i think i got the point across.
i dont know whats causing it, my first guess is its vacuum related. i do not have a vacuum/boost gauge hooked up so thats no help.
shutting the car off for a bit seems to remedy the problem but thats not always possible
i never really gave too much thought to it as i live in a relatively rural place & do mostly highway driving. just assumed the car hated the city which is understandable. lately though it did it on the highway which is unacceptable.
also this isnt a problem ive had since the brake swap. the brakes worked great before the motor was boosted and for 12-14 months-ish after the motor was boosted. its a semi-recent problem
h-t has always been very helpful to me for troubleshooting but searching in this case has me still scratching my head.
anyone else had this problem or have any ideas about it?
ill be happy to answer any questions about the car i may have forgotten/add more information that may be relevant to the problem.
thanks

Re: brake help please! - pedal hardness increases until dragging
appreciate the help guys. seems pretty likely
last time i did the pads i remember having to break a couple caliper pins loose because they were seized.
i cleaned/lubed them but probably not well enough.
i'll try picking up some new ones & replacing them seeing as how they're fairly cheap
& the solution you've suggested matches an issue i've noticed before.
thanks again for the knowledge
