This statement is incorrect.
If you use a high temp paint, eventually the paint will wear or flake off since the paint cannot handle the higher temperature. Most high temp paints are only good up to 600 degrees Fahrenheit, while brake caliper paint is good to 900-1200 depending on which brand. You should use brake caliper paint. It costs about the same and has a higher temperature resistance. VHT makes a good one as well as Plasti-kote. Go to your local PEP Boys or an independent parts house (not checker kragen or schucks) they will have brake caliper paint.

if you're gonna do it which i dont agree on, do it right at least, dont paint it w/ the rubber boots. also i wouldn't paint it yellow or red, i would paint it black since they're probably only stock calipers

would it be better to disassemble the caliper or just tape over the boots so that it doesnt get sprayed. also, anyone know what to lube it with?

I painted mine RED. Masked off the boots and the piston. Painted all around the caliper (not just the outside which is visible). I used Plastikote brake spray paint, 3 coats, it looks good.

Re: Brake caliper paint? Which paint to use? (phantom_sol)
Friend used 1000degree BBQ paint from ace hardware on a set of ITR calipers. Paint has held up so far through track events, even with him baking the crap out of his cobalt vr-specs this weekend.

since brake caliper paint claims to be "rust and chip resistant, as well high temperature resistant," could you use brake caliper paint on wheels?

i would assume so--
ive been looking into painting them bronxe but caliper paint does not come in that color anywhere-- all i see is red, yellow, blue , black and silver---
blah.... i want gold or bronze-- i can find it at 500 deg with duplicolor
any one have a better idea?

i got gold from pepboys engine paint, i have had it for a few months and no signs of fadding or chipping, its best if you take apart the calipers and paint them also clean them well before you spray.

95gsrturbo,
VHT has just recently come out with their caliper paint in a gold/bronze color. I saw it in the new JC Whitney Import flyer. It looks to be a good bronze.
Phantom Sol,
Use the VHT paint it has lasted for years on my old calipers. Also take the time to mask them before painting. You do everything else the right way on your car, might as well do the calipers right also.

I used just regualr caliper paint from autozone on mine, and no chiping or bubbles, I painted everythign underther black
That will help it from rusting, Rusting isnt good to have anywhere on the car if you can avoid it.
