Default Boring/honing sleeves.

Hi guys. I'm planning to get pistons with .020 overbore. Would this mean I'd have to bore my sleeves .020 more to fit the pistons? Would piston skirt to wall clearence be ok?

Why don't you just take it to a machine shop and pay them the $50.00 to deal with it.

well, im not gonna do it myself and that's for certain. I just wanna know what to tell em. And even if they would know, I'd like to know myself. The pistons are .020 over bore. It's a given that I'd have to get the sleeves bored to .020. Now would that make the edges scrape and excessivly touch each other? Would I then want to get it 0.026" for the piston skirt to wall clearance. The piston to wall is .006" according to Ross Racing. That's what I want to know. Anyone?

Any GOOD machine shop will know what to do without any input from you. Don't waste money on a bore job if all you want is more HP. The increase in displacement is minimal. You'll gaine more power just because the motor is now new.

Bring your pistons to the shop that's doing the bore/hone.The pistons are designed to fit in a +.020 bore. The pistons will measure about .006 less than that.
