Default boosting and cams....

for a 99 si

is it better to boost (turbo) with just stock cams, or better to get itr cams...?

i wanna raise the redline to 8500rpm..and still be able to boost...itr cams will keep power..up to that redline.. I know ill need to upgrade pistons, rods, valvetrain, get ecu and whatelse would you say i need?

thanx

jordo

stock you can use CTR cams, but you will need a lot of dyno time to tune out the overlap.

everyone has their own setup with turbo motors as for cams... the only problem is... no one ever tells... but for starters... sway out those si cams for anything else... like itr or whatnot

Well remember, unlike NA, you want to minmize overlap as much as possible, for this very reason swapping out to some ITR/CTR cams is not ideal unless you take the time to stick it in a dyno and get the overlap minimzed. Yes the added lift and duration of the C5 or B16B cams will help, but only when the overlap is cancelled, otherwise you'll just be hurting yourself. Know a guy who had a B18C1 turbo'd coupe running JUN cams before the turbo. After he turbo'd and dyno'd it, he swapped back to stock C1 cams, picked up nearly 30whp (he was boosting a sick amount, like 20+ psi) with the stock cams, just food for thought.
