blue smoke?
So today i get off work and my friend walks toward my car and its been about 3-4 minutes since starting the car and i begin to rev the motor up as he approuches. While doing this i look in my rear view and see blue smoke come out while reving about 6500 ( 97 gs-r in a 92 civic hatch). i then leave after about 10 minutes of talking to him , while the car is still on.. get too my house and rev again the same and see no blue smoke. i have a test pipe on aswell.
I hear that when starting the car if blue smoke appears its your cam seals?/valve seals?
Also if blue smoke appears when your getting on your car its the piston rings?
If i pull my spark plugs out and see no oil around the plug then it probably wont be the rings right?
leak down test about how much money for one??
Any help wanted!

Blue smoke is oil. Cam seals is easy to determine if it's the root of the problem. Usually is. But it is more probable to be valve seals if your seeing it come from out your exhaust (rear view mirror).....

thanks, for about a month i thought it was the piston rings. if it was the valve seals or cam seals how long of a time process would it be?

i wouldn't start throwing parts at it untill i was sure of the leak. if you decide to replace the seals i wouldn't recomend doing it yourself. it can be easy to do some serious damage if you don't go about it right. a leakdown wouldn't be a bad idea. better to do it right than to do it twice. good luck
