I recently installed an Omni test pipe and am getting a large amount of black soot collecting on my back bumper...so im thinking since my secondary O2 sensor isnt hookep up right now im running hella rich....could this be causing my black soot issue?

Throwing a cel possibly? If the O2 sensor isn't hooked up or is bad then it could be running rich and causing the black soot problem.

the secondary o2 sensor has nothing to do with your air fuel ratio

it monitors the catalytic converter efficencey. thats IT. your primary o2 is what controls your AFR.

you have black soot everywhere because you removed your cat. put it back in. you only gained a couple horsepower, but now you arent emissions legal.

QFT, especially since he is in SoCal.

I don;t know why people take the cat converter out of a car. Because like Kamin said, it really does not help that much, and fines can be pretty expensive if caught without one. Import tuner did an article this month about Cat vs. No cat vs. High flow cat.

The difference between the 3 was no more than 3 or 4 whp.

Id say depends on the cat in some scenarios because some of the civic cats are very restrictive like the one on my cx its like trying to blow out the insides of an egg through a pinhole...
neway as he said just put it back on and if you really want that extra couple horses spend the money for a highflow and keep your 02 sensor in, Your cat also collects the carbon deposits using those baffles inside the tube. Since they dont exist anymore your you've coated the interior of your exhaust pipe with the deposits and it cant grab anymore ending up on your rear bumper..

it dosent *catch* the deposits, it BURNS them. thats the point of a catalytic converter.

You sir, are on a roll tonight. If a cat "caught" the unburnt fuel, would it not plug itself up after only a few drives? Either that or flood itself out from all the unburnt fuel and the let off one massive explosion of gas out the tailpipe.

Hey, that would be pretty cool!!!

Hence the given name "catalytic converter."
