Default Black Housing headlights

I jsut got back from my friends house about half an hour ago. The project of the day was to paint my headlight housings black. They look so tight it is unbelievable!!!

We used flat black primer to paint the chrome part, here is the procedure we used.

1.)Take off the bumper

2.) Take headlight bulbs out of headlight housing

3.)Unbolt headlight housing

4.)Take out turn signal bulb

5.) Put headlight housing in oven @ 250 degress for 10-12 minutes, and put it on a cookie sheet, or a few layer of aluminum foil.

6.) Seperat the chrome piece from the lens

7.)Take out the amber reflector, and the amber thing that surrounds the turn signal bulb.

8.)Paint the chrom part, (not the one that is directly around the headlight bulb tho)

9.)Snap painted section into lens piece, and put the headlight back together.

10.) Put in the oven for 6-8 minutes @ 250 degress to make the glue pliable again

11.)Push the piece together again.

Put on your car and Enjoy!!!!!

I didnt mask off the turn signal chrome housing, so there is one chrome "circle" around the head light, and I am running basically clear corners b/c I didn't put the amber piece over the turn signal.

I will post some pics for you guys so you can see what I am talking about!!

This makes my car look really stealthy and mean!!

Total Cost: $4.99 for the primer, and an hour and a half of labor.

many people have done that, but you should also put silicone sealant or something of that nature to prevent future moisture to get in.

sorry, I didnt have any batteries for my digi cam, but I wil post pics tomorrrrow.

BTW, white turn signals are tight as hell!!!

3 people commented on them today in one parkking lot alone. Kinda scary that the 3 guys wee staring at my car as I came out of the mall, but it is flattering. I didn't know they would attract that much attention.
