best way to lower your car yourself?
I have a set of koni shocks and ground control coilovers that i am planning to install in my 1999 ek lx sedan this winter. I havent done much with suspension work yet on cars, can someone who has a similar car explain the process in a little more detail for me?
Pictures are also a great help if you have some.
thanks

What up Kyle B. Give google some search terms and I'm sure there are hundreds of threads or articles to help you out. Don't worry. Its not as hard as it seems. Good luck.

Ok thanks for the advice and suggestions friends. I think first i will go purchase some coil spring compressors so i dont kill myself trying to get the springs in.

Get a can of pb blaster and start hitting the rear bolts every night when you park it the week before you do the swap. Also get you a good breaker bar, it will make the process alot easier

Scared the **** out of me when I tried it for fun aim it away from things you value. You'd be supprised how much force is behind those OEM springs lol

I just aimed it in a big garbage bin. that works to seeing as there are washers and such you don't want to loose.

Re: best way to lower your car yourself?
You guys are giving terrible advice on decompressing the springs.
With the full suspension still bolted on and the car on the ground, remove the nuts from the top of the shock shafts. Then, jack up the car, and the springs will slowly decompress on their own. No need for specialty tools or dangerously shooting the upper shock mount off (which can damage the threads of the shock shaft, making them unusable after).

Easiest way to lower it would be to get a fat gf..
But in all seriousness watch out for that lower strut bolt in the back. the one on the lca, seems like the bolts always like to snap the heads off. dunno if anybody else had that problem but ive seen it happen 3 times now..

Like everyone says, PB blaster the S**T out of the LCA bolts.
and get new LCA bolts from the dealership if you have to, or just lube up the threads with PB blaster if you are re-using your bolts.

And really, what's so hard about a spring compressor? I bought one at AutoZone, used it, and returned it no questions asked.
