they're all good for different reasons... don't expect just to be spoon fed information like this.
everyone will just tell you to get what they have. "get the b16.." "no turbo the d" "no b18c" etc. etc.
reSEARCH the pros and cons of each motor, and YOU figure out which one is best for your budget and your needs.

I'd get the H22A, it's the same motor I am going to drop in my car. It's got decent power and torque. It's a big motor though so your going to need professional installation. But yes, with the H22A with I/H/E you can run high-low 13's. I have a friend that ran a 13.3 with a stock H22A with I/H/E... He had 13"s on it too... Just a thought, but do what you want... Everybody like's different things.

Thanx!I was kinda considering an h22a or b16a2.But I know that a b16 cost to much to get it running the way i want it to run.My buddies gsr hatch is ran a 14.3 and my other buddies d16z6 turbo is running 14.1.My mechanic is trying to get me to buy a b16 and he has a b20 block he will sell to me for cheap.what do you think about b20 vtecs

Re: (civic5483)
you see what i mean?? this is what happens when you ask questions like this; all you will get is a slew of everyone's different opinions. so far, you've gotten 4 completely different answers. but, at least you're getting some bearing about the pluses and minuses of each motor though.
just for the hell of it, here's my order of prefrence:
1. b18c1 - best bang for the buck.
2. b20vtec - best of both worlds - torque and vtec top end
3. b18c5 - awesome motor, but pricey, and already squeezed a little bit from honda
4. h22 - the king of torque, but heavy, lousy gearing, sits low, and a complex swap - ends up being somewhat expensive in the end.
4. b18b - not the best, but has potential, and loves boost.
5. b16 - still a no torque 1.6 liter, i say just keep the d
turbo d is still a very good option too; can reliabily make some good #s if done properly. <- what i'm doing.. i think
those are just my opinions for what they're worth... i'm sure others will disagree, and rightfully so.

I can personally say the best swap for all around fun is b18c with type R pistons and 2 layer (mugen) head gasket. High compression, pulls hard, spins high, and still has bottom end.
The 92 h/b we stuffed it into ran a 14.6 on street tires, in hot weather and low hole before we put the pistons and head gasket in.

Re: (SIRIUS)
He will not be able to do an h22 swap for 3,500. I think that is really pushing it, especially since he is clearly a noob(no offense) and with $3,500 budget, a c5 is also out of the question. I'd say a low mileage D series with a prefabbed turbo kit for you. That is my opinion and I DONT have a Dseries, I have a b16a3, so I'm not being biased

Re: (HATCHingMN)
if you want 13's on the motor your best bet would be the h22.....or course some driving skill is going to be needed to get there on a stock h22 in a eg

Re: Best swap (civic5483)
If I were you I'd either get the b18c1 and realize you're not going to get 13's out of the box...
Or spend the 3500 on your D and MAYBE get there... but you'll be pretty maxed out... and may not hit your goal...
