Re: (drtysohc)
There is no such thing as best swap.
For $2k i'd turbo what you have, or swap in a cheap b-series.
If you found a good deal you could install an h22 in there too. I've seen full h22 swaps go for $500-1000 on craigslist. ****'s crazy.

It really just depends on what you want to do with the car. It really is something that you have to decide on your own.
Ek forever guy is right though, d series turbo is a lot of fun. I had a blast with all of the single cam setups that I did.

Yeah i'm not looking to turbo though. I want to go all motor. I was thinking a b18a ls swap just built up.
I also want something that isn't to hard to smog or ref

a k20 will still get ~30MPG with the right driver.
Sell your other car and swap a k20 in.
Or if you don't have enough money do an h2b swap. You can get decent mileage with those as well.

Of the swappers I've asked I've yet to see one had the swap running and tuned for less than $7500. But I don't frequent the k20 sites, so the only K-traffic I've seen is on here and also limited.
~$7000 is with a LOT of hookups and often a swap that is second hand with no warranty.
If you're buying the swap from a dealer it's going to be an automatic $5000.
If you want to tune it and get a decent header it's going to be ~$2000 alone there.
k-pro + tuning time is likely to cost more than $1000.

2000 bucks in your pocket...... do an LS/VTEC. looking to ref the damn thing... save a little bit and get a GS-R swap.
LS/VTEC people say arent reliable but the one i got has lasted a little more than 8 years and its still running strong. just do it right and no need to worry.

Leave it stock or slap a turbo on it. Those are your only two reasonable options considering the price range.
