Bell housing question
OK, so i was had a brief moment of idiocy the other day as i was bolting my transmission up to my d15b. i was torquing down the mounting bolts on the bell housing to to block before i got them all screwed in and managed to crack off about a 3 to 4 square inch piece of the bell housing, stupid cast aluminum, lol. well, as there is no lubrication being done inside the bell housing, and the area that broke off is not cracked, would it be feasible to continue bolting this up, or should i just find a housing off another d series tranny?

Re: Bell housing question (Receding roofline...)
where is it broken at?i'd say if you have the alignment pins and all other bolts in,it will be okay, although i'd still be looking for a replacement housing.
BTW-what value are you torquing them to?!to crack the bellhousing, you'd have to really be cranking on them.

Re: Bell housing question (TeamNextGenChris)
its broken on the top right hand side, so i believe theres enough strength thats pretty well distributed. actually, looking back, i believe the right side alignment pin slipped out and was resting on the lip of its hole as i was tightening down the left side causing the crack. thanks for the info.
