ball joint on cx hatch
sup guys i got a 92 cx hatch.. My lower ball joint on the driver side hub is just spinning ive tried everything. ive managed to get a bolt on there like 2 turns but when i drive its really unsafe and you can deff feel it. How hard is it to swap out the ball joint. Ive already got a new one. How much will a normal shop charge or can i do myself.. thanks guys

That response makes no sense at all. Why would air tools help that??
Have a friend stand on top of the brake/rotor/knuckle assembly then tighten the bolt. Should work fine.

Re: ball joint on cx hatch (JDM_Ej)
replace the ball joint.
Having someone step on the hub is just prolonging the bullshit you'll have to deal with later when you want to take the axles out for whatever reason.
Change the ball joint, 25 bucks at autozone
hammer it out and hammer it back in

Re: (pdiggitydogg)
the reason why you can't hammer it in is because you need a 25-33mm, don't know the size, to go on top of the ball joint so while you are hammering it in, it goes in evenly.
A press is hard to fit because the damn hub has so limited room.
I'd take a picture, but its in the car and I am not taking it off

Exactly what they said, hammer works best. To press it back in i used a bench vice and hammered it in. Worked like a charm. Autozone also lets you borrow the tool for the job. I only found it useful to press the new one in but not to press out
