bad vibration and shaking with air conditioning AC on?
I just bought a 2000 Civic Si with all sorts of little problems.
#327 is that when I turn the AC on the engine bay vibrates so badly it sounds like it's going to blow up.
It seems like the AC compressor wants to engage, so it must have enough freon.
Would this indicate that the AC compressor is seized?
I should double check that it's bolted to the engine block, too, but it looks ok. Belt is intact.

does this happen when the car is stopped at a light ? aka at idle ?

does it shake a little when at idle ?

If when at idle its rock solid, then the compressor can be bad. But this onece happend to me and it turned out as my alternator was weak, when i engaged the AC it put more strain to the electric system and the car would shake quite a bit.
changed alternator and worked great.

It shakes a lot, whether at idle or not.
I hadn't thought about any connection with the alternator. That seems like it is working ok, but this car has had some electrical hackjobs done to it so I'll keep an eye on that.

go to your local autozone, I believe they can check your electrical system for free. ( they will check if alternator or battery is bad ).
Take out of the equation the alternator/ elictrica system. To then move on stricly to the AC components.
