ac stop working and it caused idle problems?

Default ac stop working and it caused idle problems?

my honda civic ac stop working 2 days ago. while the ac is on, the car idles funny and sometimes just shut off while driving. when the ac is off, there is no problem. is that a unusual problem?

Sounds like the compressor is bad, not sure if I can help much with just that info though.

I would look in the Helms manual and start tracing through the AC troubleshooting section.

easy way to tell is remove the belt from the compressor and see if it still does it.

Uhh, no it won't do it if you remove the belt

He already says it only affects idle when he turns the AC on. That means the clutch and everything IS working. You would only be making a pain in the *** and wasting a ton of time to remove the belt since to remove the ac belt properly you have to remove the PS belt and the driver side torque mount.

Check your Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) when you turn on the AC the IAC is supposed to open more to bring your RPM's up at idle due to the extra load the AC compressor puts on the engine. Not sure if is that or not but it's something to check.

Well a way to sorta test, does it act any different than normal if say you are in neutral and hold your rpm at ~2k (by pushing the gas pedal)?

You may need to to open your idle air screw a tad if the IACV can't open far enough where it's at.
