Bad smell.....HELP ME....
Ok here it goes I just finished installind a megan header on my 97 Ej8 and after I have done this I took it for a spin I smell this weird awful smell, can't really describe it but its anoying. Also I noticed that if I turn my blowers the smell comes through also. The smell is worse at idle at a stop. Please help since im stumped and I don't know if its normal cuz its new? Which I really don't think its normal.

Really? Well its the stainless steel type. I've never heard of that. But I really hope it is. But it kinda smells like exhaust or burned crap. Smells pretty bad. I mean its pretty noticeable. Also when you guys refer to exhaust leak, can anyone describe to me what that is? Mayber that's what I have?

prob just the coating like stated above
drive it for a few hundred miles and the smell should go away.
make sure it gets nice and hott too.

Damm so everyone thinks its the coating? I could have swore its exhaust smell. I mean doesn't smell like gas that's for sure kind of like a metal burning. Sort of like when the clutch smells just a little bit more strong. Well screw it then ill drive it lie that for a while see what happens. By the way when one has a exhaust leak you lose power right? Cuz im not feeling loss of power or anything but I guess we will see how it goes.

I'll be more clear the smell kind of smells like when you just went to a muffler shop and had something welded. That kind of smell. Also I don't know if this matters but when I installed my header I removed that one metal gasket and just used the one provided with the header. Should I have left the other gasket in also?

smell could also come from the new gasket being broke in i guess you could say.
like i said drive it a few hundred miles and if its still there then start to worry.

Haha....i know huh! LoL. But seriously look at his Avatar. It gives him away. He has a pic of himself with a gas pump in his ***. He gave himself away with that one
But back on subject i took it to a shop earlier and they said it was normal to drive it for a couple of days. They told me that it was the cat converter. That it has to get used to the new temp from my header since it heats up more than the ironcast OEM one I dont know beats me.
