Default Is this a bad brake master cylinder?

Does this mean that the seal is bad or actual m/c is bad..?? Fluid looks a bit mixed "water/vinegar look", but i thought that was from my bad brake line letting air in pressure system, i wasnt to sure tho... Anyhow just wondering if from the pic its able to tell if my m/c is bad, and if not what other factors decide upon that??? thanks...

ps - also note, it doesnt leak or anything thats noticeable to a leak.. that picture makes it look like its real wet but its like stained onto the brake booster.. but those are both stock parts also, never been touched....

well if its not currently leaking then it must of sealed itself over time, but it for shur leaked at one time or another. those masters dont usually go bad. I would take it off and replace the gasget and use some silicon gasget sealer too, i guess you could make shur the master is in good shape while its off. good luck.

thanks bro... yeah i guess i been lookin for a reason to replace it anyways an just do the 15/16's upgrade but after this morning im thinkin its gonna kill itself soon shortly... My brake pedal was hard as a rock one minute, than its like goin all the way down with barely any pressure the next minute... and now it seems to be working a lil better but still seems hesitant...

and also could a bad m/c result in a bad caliper or vise versa..?

Have you tried to bleed your brake lines at all? I would start from the bottom up.

Also check the calipers leaking too.

yeah im gonna go try to bleed the brakes again once i get to checkin these wheels for stoppage while cars jacked up... im also curious, what would make me have to bleed the brakes, ie. how would air get in my system to have caused this problem if i have no leaks..??

if you are losing brake pressure, then my guess would be the MC, especially if it's never been replaced before. my recommendation to you is, if you are going to replsce the MC go ahead and replace the booster as well.

thanks man... thats some insight i been lookin for as well...

my scenario to what im finding tho, is that i have a bad caliper an bad m/c.... i just took car for a cruise an slammed brakes to test out stoppage power, an the passenger side lets out a nice loud screaching hault however instead of driver side being in sync an lettin out a lil bitta screachage, it just kinda hesitates an slowly stops it feels like.... no screach whatsoever... an the pressure feels kinda shitty too, but even after i just did my brakes like 3-4 months ago i noticed the pressure wasnt like 100% after the first like 2-3 days... And now after the incident this morning with brake locking up, i believe both are bad... I'm sure many would probably agree, right..???

And do you think since i upgraded to rear disc's, an have my 4040 prop valve here, i should just get like an LS non abs booster an 15/16" m/c..?? "i believe those are the stock m/c's for LS's"
