you just need to tune your fuel settings.

What kind of exhaust do you have, that is, if you have one? It could just be your exhaust, mine does it all the time at certain RPM's. I have a Mugen twin-loop on a b16.

it also could be a test pipe. my car back fires too but i think its because i got ignition problems or my o2 is bad.

Would an exhaust really cause your engine to backfire?

I have a tanabe racing medallion on my Civic EX and my car backfires some times when I let off the gas... is my exhaust the reason??

Also, is there a way to tune your fuel settings without an afc?

nah, i doubt it. the exhaust system just allows you to hear the backfire.

its not even bad if it backfires in the exhaust. .. if you hve any exhaust leak or even a large diamiter pipe it can cause it to backfire.
