Default B20A5 VTEC???

I recently picked up a B20A5 out of a 91' Prelude Si. I was wondering if you can convert these things to vtec like the B20B/Z's...It seems that everyone does the cr-vtec's and never use the B20A5. Why is this? Is it not the same block? There must be a reason no one uses them. Also, if this is possible, once done will it swap into my 93 civic Ex? If anyone knows anything about the B20A5 please help...it would be greatly appreciated.

It is not the same block. No one does it because they are notoriously bad/abused motors I would NOT put a VTEC head on that motor if I were you.

the block is horrible thats why its quite a bit different then the b and z's. there has been topics on this befor, and to the best of my recalection its that they have a really bad rod to stroke ratio and weak rods. im not sure on this but if you search around in the TECH forum or the HYBRID froum were this question should have been posted.

click search, type in b20a, then click the ARCHIVE circle and click next. I pulled up around 50hits, you will see where we are coming from. If you plan on building it fully, it may be worth it, it's all up to you to do the research and make the decision
