Default B20 vtec

Hi. I've got a eg9 with a b20vtec with a complete type r head and intake and exhaust with a 7600rpm limiter because the bottom of the block is nearly stock,it only has forged pistons, arp head studs and rod studs and a block guard. I just dynoed it and it delivered 197hp and 194nm with a basic tune and a bit rich to avoid detonation... Do you guys think I could raise the limiter a little higher? Or should I keep it like this until I upgrade on the block internals? And I have an s80 type r gearbox from a 98spec type r and with the limiter set so low my top speed is very low. I have a friend that as an s9b with the type r lsd,do you guys think it's a good choice for me? By my calculations if I keep this rev limit and put the s9b my speed will be near to a b16 with a y21,or am I wrong?

i would leave your limiter where it is now. you shouldnt rev high on a b20v, they blow easy at high rev. my friends on his 2nd b20v, first one was fully built w/ block guard. revd to 9 grand and BOOM. however, just wondering are you running the gsr oil pump? if not are you having any issues with oil?

I forgot to say that I'm using b18c oil pump and water pump to! The engine now has 10k miles on it and the only problem I've had so far was a spark plug because of the fuel mixture beeing to rich...

Well,I don't go to the track very often and my gas milleage could use a longer gear ratio, since the car is my daily driver... I'm not looking for a very high top speed just the equivalent to a stock b16a2,but I will need a longer gearbox because of the 7600rpm limit and I was hoping someone would know if the s9b would be a suitable choice?

this is all up to you.

what blance of power to reliability do you desire?

the type r head is definitely still making power at 7600... and should continue to for a while after. the b20 block isn't mean to spin very fast. but i've seen people run them out for years on end at 8500+ ..but i've also seen them **** the bed when they really shouldn't have to begin with.

i'd set the fuel cut just over 8k.. that way the power of the head is there if you need it or want it. but just drive conservatively.

upgrading pistons to higher compression units and equipping some aftermarket rods would significantly improve power as it sits now. and allow for some peace of mind. after balancing the rotating assembly i'd feel comfortable with it spinning pretty high into the rpm range.

eaxctly bro ia had a build b20v puting down way over 250 on 91 revving at 8500 still going on to day but in a diffrent car so rais that bitch up a bit and put bigger cams. you wont have dentonation if your runing pistons bro1 thats why you ahve a tuning to avoid that

I already have high compression forged pistons. But I need some more dyno tuning... I have an ostrich 2 piggyback system. I drive car my car and rarely drive above 2500-3000rpms daily, only on some ocasions I like to floor it and go all the way... I believe my car is also not making more power due to some factors like the exhaust headers are the jdm dc2 4-1 but they're completely smashed on the bottom part I'm planning on getting the hytech long tube ones, the exhaust is the dc2 oem one I'm getting a 2,5" custom made with a magnaflow exhaust,my throttle body is a 65mm spoon I believe I need at least a 70mm one for the b20 to breathe right... And in a long term I plan on buying eagle rods and darton sleeves and balance and lighten the stock b20 crank. Then I believe I can safely go to 8500rpms... What do you guys think?
And thank you for your opinions.!
