b20 in BAR approved GSR civic
my friend has a gsr in his civic and has a BAR sticker. he was thinking of swappin in a b20 short block, figuring that even though the b20 motor isnt smog legal, the smog shop wont notice since he has the sticker.
now, this is assuming that the smog shop doesnt check the block numbers, basically being dumbasses and seeing that its a different motor, looking at the sticker, and running the test.
i know, i guess it sounds stupid, but my question is, do you guys think it could work?
thanks

Ref. no
Test only. No
Shell station smog pretty good chance
Ive heard of it happen with a B20 in a 00 SI All they did was look for the DOHC and VTEC (it was a CRVTEC) and he passed.

yeah i was wondering about the SI's, seems like the same concept.
btw, whats the difference between a test only place and gas station smog?

better hope he doesn't notice its a 2.0 block. he'll notice the sticker, and it will say 1.8, but if he looks at the block and it says B20, i think he's going to be suspicious. well goodluck.

take a majic marker to it, lol. No seriously what if you decide to cover up the block number with tons of oil or something?

Test only is almost as hard as the ref but they dont worry to much on everything like the ref does. They do alot of visual while the gas station smogs only look at the motor, cat and put it on the dyno.
Edit: Also most of the time they dont look at the block, they look in there book, see that it says DOHC looks at the engine... DOHC and then test it.
