Default b18c5 into a 98 honda civic ex.. I believe it is a ej

I am all new to this and have been reading for hours now...I am mind boggled..It says that b series are the easiest swaps to do in a civic...I found a motor from a reputable source...Now the only thing is what do i need to complete it...I have a d16y8 vtec motor now...I need info on wiring and other stuff...I beleive i read that the wiring should almost be plug and play....Also it has a 5 spd in it which also says is the easiest to convert the obd2 over with the swap...You guys that post are way smart and i am giving you alot of praise...I am a toyota man and build articulation rigs..So i can post there in there forums..But come to this I am just starting as I am sure you all had to...Man I have seen some pretty rude post about spelling and tards and stuff...We all arent as smart as some but some arent all as smart as others...For instance I can build transmissions all day but can the other guy posting after or before me... If any one can help me out with specific info for this swap Id greatly appreciate it.... BRIAN

It is a pretty easy swap.. especially since you have an EX model. You'll have to extend a few wires, and swap a few connectors out for different style connectors. The crank sensor, on the oil pump.. I'm not sure if JDM motors have them or not, if not, you'll need a b series crank position sensor, and a matching harness connector. The civic has a 3 wire connector, the Integra has a 2 wire. I dont know if the EX has a knock sensor, if not you'll have to wire that in.

Here is a good link, I used it for my swap in my 96 sedan.

the wiring needs to be whatever your car is.. so a 98 EX would be obd2a..
you cant use the integra wire harness.. you gotta use your civic harness.. everything should be plug 'n' play ....

it doesnt have to be.. but its easier.. you can convert to obd1, or obd2b...

Looking for the most bang for my buck with this b18c5 swap... Already a type R motor .. and I have an after market exhaust with the header tuned for tthis motor...Only this is what transmission do I use and what axles ... Says some thing bout 36 mm and 32 mm hubs...Not sure what I can use.. Any help out there...I have researched it but not finding the answers...Im not one of those to give up easily,...but dam alot of info here to read in a short time...Ya all thanks for the help

you need the 32mm axles.. (basically any integra) some type r swaps come with 36mm axles.. you cant use them unless you get the 36mm hubs, or swap the outer part of the cv joint. as far as tuning, the stock type r computer would be sufficient for a header and exhaust, dont waste the money on dyno/tune time for that 15/20 hp increase.. wait unless you do some internal work. The ITR transmission is a great transmission, you should buy the swap as a complete swap.
if your civic has abs, you'll also need abs axles..

I beleive I can use the stock ecm with the b18c5 from my 98 civic ex coupe but how do you raise the redline from 7000 to 8700 .. I believe can have chipped or just buy the ecu for the 2000 integra.... Not sure what the most cost effective way is... Any body have an comments or thread to help....

i wouldnt recommend using your stock ecu.. its not mapped for dohc.. i'd find a type r ecu.. you can't chip obd2 ecus.. you could get a obd2 to obd1 harness adapter and run a chipped p28 or something similar.
