B18a1 into EJ question
Let me first start off by telling you what i have:
2000 DX civic coupe
d15b7 (dont ask)
obdII->obdI jumper harness to a p05 ecu.
Apparently the previous owner had some "bad *** 500whp b-series" motor in it, took it out and threw the single slammer into it to get rid of the car... And now its in my hands. Well the motor taps, smokes, idles rough but i got a hell of a deal on the car and had plans to swap.
I just got my hands on a b18a1 longblock for 100 bones. Now i have some questions.
-Is it even worth swapping such an old motor into a 2000 coupe?(supposedly has low mileage, saw the tach on the car it came out of- 120,xxx)
-What should I do electrical wise? Keep the jumper harness and stay with an obd1 ecu?
And....Since the motor is obd0 should i get an obd2 b18 intake mani?
-CV axles- The guy gave me 2 DA ls cv axles and half shaft, will these work for my application?
-Am i just being a dumb *** and need to search harder?(have searched quite a bit)
If this turns out to be more of a pain in the *** then expected, i can easily flip the motor and get my money back + some
Help would be greatly appreciated

Re: B18a1 into EJ question (GYChris)
From what I understand the b18 would obviously have more torque and a few more ponies as well stock vs stock. Unless you've got the money to drop a K series then just go with the B or D. Also you could go H2B if you wanted some real power. But this all depends on what you decide to end up doing, NA or FI. If its NA then the more displacement the better, but if you do FI then you might as well rebuild that turd of a D and boost it. More cost effective to me seein as the longblocks are cheap as hell. I'm planning on swapping a b18b in my EJ8 here real soon, once I get some more money that is. I just want it for the extra cam and the .2 more litre's of displacement also plus they seem to handle boost pretty good. 9 - 1 compression I believe. The axles he gave you will work with any B series tranny I believe except for the ITR. (Dont quote me on that)

Re: B18a1 into EJ question (96 EX)
Thanks for the reply.
My main question i guess is this: I am putting an obd0 motor in an obdII car with an obd1 ecu.... So should i get the stock 99-00 civic dx obdII engine wiring harness, an obdII b18 intake manifold, obdII distributor, and get rid of the jumper harness and get an obdII integra ecu? Would this be the "proper" way of doing the swap?
