B18 chipped cylinder on the outside
Well it looks like I cracked my boosted b20 engine. Coolant reservoir overflows and starts heating up after a couple of hard pulls…
Anyway, I have a spare b18 that I am thinking about using next. Only issue is that the outside of a couple of the cylinders are chipped. I don’t know how that happened as I was given this block but by the looks of it I’m hesitant to use but will need to since my current set up is toast.
I’m even thinking about sleeving it or sleeving the current block I have at Golden Eagle. I’m not really wanting super high power goals though but the chips concern me.
what do you guys think? Would this hold up or should I just get another block?
That’s the worst of them. The cylinder on the opposite end is also chipped but not as bad….

Re: B18 chipped cylinder on the outside
I don’t know how it happened. My friend gave it to me and was like that already. I also just took the oil pan out and a rod bearing was spun. If I don’t sleeve it do you guys think it’ll be ok? I just don’t feel right sending it…
