Little concerned about this block
My buddy recently picked up a c5 block to start building for an NA setup. Today we took a mic to the cylinder walls to see what bore the block was (previous owner said he wasn't sure). This is where the concern comes in, I am wondering what the limits on stock sleeves are and also wondering if this block has been re-sleeved.
Here is the measurements we got from the cylinders:
Cylinder 1: 85.25mm
Cylinder 2: 85.41mm
Cylinder 3: 85.36mm
Cylinder 4: 85.44mm
No 2 cylinders were the same bore and the .19 variance between 1 and 4 has me puzzled. But it doesn't end there...
Here is some pics of the block, it has a block gaurd in it, but appears to be stock sleeves. I have never heard of a machine shop willing to bore stock sleeves out so big. I talked to a couple engine builders and they said stock sleeves should stay 81-81.5mm with 82 being the limits. After that they suggested the block be sleeved.

Looks like a replacement dry liner was installed not knowing the make of liner I cannot say weather or not it can be sleeved again with a closed deck sleeve. Only other option is to remove those sleeves and reinstall another set but that is pretty difficult because no one knows the quality of the first install and how it was bored after the install. At this point I would look for a new block.

Yeah I believe it has the lines in it as well. We're gonna stick a dial bore gauge in it and go from there. Since it's an all motor setup with some sort of aftermarket sleeve structure, I don't feel worried about going 85.5-86mm on the bore. If it were stock sleeves then yeah, a new block would be the route I would tell my buddy to go as well.

Most likely an LS, here where we live in Ohio it's near impossible to find a good condition GSR/ITR crank but LS cranks can be found for $20 daily
