b16b eg - axle and oil leak questions
I might as well introduce myself. New to H-T & the eg chassis / b swaps. That's a lot of "new" to so please, bear with me.
Pic of said swap:
Now what new axels do I need
With the ctr swap & 5 lug conversion what new axels should I go with. Boots are torn & grease is getting slung around.
It's pretty bad, this is same side as above (drivers)
Pass side, something else is leaking. Looks like gear oil.
From the trans. Drip, drip, drip
She's going to dry & die isn't she?
Sorry for the bombardment of pics. What say you H-T?

Is your axle nut a 32mm? If so...you just need 94-01 integra or 99-00 civic Si axles.
If the axle nut is a 36mm, you have a 5 lug conversion from a JDM ITR, and you'll need either:
-JDM ITR 36MM axles.
-97-01 Prelude driver side axle. And a 97-01 prelude passenger side axle with civic/integra B series INNER joint.

As far as the leak goes....you'll just need to find where its coming from.
Axle seals are a common place.
Or if someone tried to put a prelude axle in the passenger side without swapping to a B series inner joint...the trans will leak past the axle.

Thanks & yea the car has a 5 lug conversion from the itr.
The leak just collects @ the trans housing & drips some. Was told to check the reverse sensor haha
BTW this car was
bought in the SE. If this is anyone's old hatch on here, HELLO!

JDM ITR = 36MM
USDM ITR = 32MM
Those appear to be USDM wheels. So whoever stole that ITR that those wheels came from probably also used the USDM 5 lug. This is just a guess though.

I sure hope nobody stole **** that's been used to build this car. I bought it with hard earned money, that being said there's really no way to tell but what I can say is the person I bought it from seemed like a nice guy with 1 too many toys.
Any recommendations on which oil & filter to use. Sure I could google it but want to see what folks have to say.
How about a genuine Honda filter & Royal Purple 10w-30?
For MTF I figure Honda is the way to go unless there's something better.
I plan to daily this car & eventually get some track time.

Castrol Edge (black bottle) 0W30 is your best bet if you can find it. Some Advance Vatos and O'Ralle stores carry it. And I think they're having a Castrol sale at the moment.
Otherwise, Pennzoil Platinum or Castrol Edge 5W30 if you're planning on 6000-7500 mile or so oil changes. Those are available anywhere
If you're planning on 3K mile oil changes, there's nothing wrong with Castrol GTX or similar.
I like Purolator, Wix, or Honda S2000 PCX filters. But....whatever you can get your hands on will likely work just fine.
10W30 is unnecessarily thick at start up. Royal purple is expensive....but...not special.
