Default b16b or b18c

i am in the process of looking for a new motor. i was looking at getting the gsr with lsd and than also noticed i could get a b16b for about the same price. once i have to buy and intake it will be the same price. i wont have to buy one for the b16b i already have one. my question is does the b16b take boost good or not. i have heard bad things about bosting a b16b. what would be better to bost stock the b16b or gsr.

either one takes to boost fine provided you have a good tune on it. and where are you finding them for almost the same price? b16b's are generally more expensive than b18c's.

Hmotorsonline.com has the b18c1 complete swap with lsd for 3400 and the b16b is 3700, but with gsr i would have to get a different intake which would cost me around 150+, so give or take they are close in price.......would it be worth putting the ctr motor in or just go with the gsr, oh yea y would i want to but a b16a1 in obd0?????

b16a1? yeah rite that wasnt any option and unless it was an EF civic or CRX hes puting it into then it is possibly one of the worse swaps to do...

i would say it depends on ur plans, the GSR motor will give u more torque, also can handle the boost, i think i b16b would be able to handle the boost about the same, its all in the fuel management. if u like the rarety then go with the b16b. alotta ppl may tell u to do the GSR because it is arguably the best all around, but i have walked all over every NA GSR i raced with my B16B, its cuz my car only weighs 1900lbs...wieght to hp ratio

B16a swaps can be had for $2000 and respond to boost just as well as a GSR. Use the extra $1400 for a turbo kit.

The GSR has a little more low end torque. You'll need to rev the b16 to get the power out of it.

b16b is really more of a all motor kind of motor......althought its player to have...they have no torque...B16B is more for having the name I think, considering they're like 4 grand.. I say b18c

Its all about compression rations, boost, and CFM's. In very few words, the GSR has a lower compression ratio, larger combustion domes, therefor is less seceptable to knock due to high levels of boost.

If swapping, you might as well just pony up to the larger displacement. Their is no real reason not to do a GSR swap and a lot of reasons not to do a B16B. For starters (at least here in California) B16B's are completely illegal regardless of any measure taken (simply not offered in the country = illegal).

If you have the money, B18C1 gets my vote.

b16b = destroked 1.8

1.8l crank in a b16b will eat the GSR alive

In addition to this, the head, valvetrain, tranny, etc. are all much better.

hahah not for turbo? the only thing not for turbo is the compression ratio. The CTR cams with boost work just fine, the head flows well cuz the mild pnp job honda does at the factory, the valvetrain can take high rpm abuse, the rod/stroke ratio is good for high rpm duty so u can have a very high powerband with ur turbo and have short gears to keep ur in the higher rpm range and keep boost higher.

in the end there both very good motors. I think the gsr is a better choice for F/I because you can take the money u saved and spend it on internals or a good turbo setup. In the end it doesnt matter there both excellent choices.
